Sydney Streetlevel training course
The Salvation Army is currently looking for committed volunteers to complete a volunteer training program to assist people in inner city Sydney.
The Sydney Streetlevel Mission works with some of the most disadvantaged and damaged people in our society. The network aims to build relationships and trust with these people.
Introduction to community work
The 12-week Introduction to Community Work training course is held in Sydney for one night per week plus two full weekends. The course equips volunteers to work with the Army's Streetlevel Mission, which provides a range of services meeting various urban needs.
The course covers topics such as communication, personal development, youth homelessness, boundaries, abuse, managing anger/aggression, sexual assault, youth health issues, experiential learning, grief and loss, alcohol and other drug abuse, mental health, the judicial system and legal aid.
Volunteer Training courses through the Streetlevel Mission run throughout the year.
