Oasis Youth Support Network

OASIS Youth Support Network

Volunteers play an important role at Oasis and receive a great sense of personal satisfaction and fulfilment in the gift of their time. There are a number of volunteer opportunities at Oasis throughout the year, from regular one-on-one mentoring opportunities to fun group/ team activities at one of our events.

Oasis Volunteer Training

Working directly with our young people does require some preparation through attending a volunteer training program which is held twice a year.

The program runs for 12 weeks, with weekly workshops held on Tuesday evenings between 7:00 - 9:30pm. The program also requires attendance at one weekend-long workshop held at Oasis and one residential weekend held at the Meroo Conference Centre in Kurrajong.

The next training program commences on Friday 26 February 2010 and applications must be submitted by Friday 29 January 2010. For more information, a course outline and application form please contact us on 02 8353 9418 or email oasis.volunteers@aue.salvationarmy.org.

Once you have completed the training program you will be able to assist Oasis staff with our programs and services, become a mentor to a young person and/ or support our team of Outreach workers who conduct street walks and coffee runs throughout the inner city.

Group/ Corporate Volunteering

If your group/ organisation would like to support a charity organisation, Oasis has a number of opportunities may be suitable such as helping to collect funds as part of the annual Red Shield Appeal in May or packing the candle bags for the Carols in the Domain event in December.

For more information about how your group or organisation can get involved and support Oasis please contact us on 02 9353 9407 or email oasis.volunteers@aue.salvationarmy.org with the subject ‘Group Volunteers’.
